Today is part 2 of don’t bore your dog with the same old stuff. So if you get a little lost here see yesterday’s show which was part one.
I am trying to point out in this video that it is best to do every variation of a command that you can. In this video we are demonstrating with the ‘front’ command. some people also refer to this command as ‘come’ or ‘here’. It is referred to as ‘front’ because the dog is coming to the front of you. You can also teach your dog to come to you with a whistle.
In this video you will see me move the dog from side to side, forward, and backwards. Do not always bring the dog in from the same position. every little change will create a different picture for the dog therefore making it easier for him to comprehend what he is supposed to do. This will make your responsibility as the handler and the person in charge to always see to that that it is done correctly.
Doing something over and over again will assure that the dog gets in many repetitions but it will not assure that he is doing each one properly. And on training in this manner will make it easier for you to move on to an advanced dog training stage much quicker. You will soon learn how to train your dog with severe distraction. If things are always boring for your dog the repetitions will fail to keep him attentive and alert and you will progress much slower. Our dog trainers are conditioned at our school for dog trainers how to keep their dogs attentive and alert. We love to pass this knowledge on to our clients.
