In this dog training video below, I show an unedited training session with my dog ‘Nash’ and teaching him to beg and to turn.
One of the main things that I look at when I watch other trainers dogs is to watch how long the dog works for, and does his motivation stay high during the session.
It’s fairly easy to throw a ball or toy multiple times and have the dog run and get it. As soon as you bring stopping, starting, and multiple other things into it where the dog has to make more decisions, it is a lot tougher to keep the motivation high.
Dog training can be a balancing act of decision making on when to press on the gas pedal, and when to let up. When a dog can literally balance himself, still grab his reward with a lot of desire, then go right back to a neutral balance position, and for a lengthy period of time, then you certainly have a dog giving ultimate effort.
That’s really all you can ask.
