SEMINARS – AGGRESSIVE DOG
My very dominant and dog-aggressive male Airedale Terrier is in training for his Schutzhund titles. He was doing very well at learning each new skill, but until we went to a Sit Means Sit Seminar it looked as though he was never going to actually trial. His heeling was perfect on or off lead when there were no other dogs around. He would maintain a long down perfectly until another dog ran by. I don’t believe that months and months more of practice on the pinch collar would ever carry over to trialing off lead. None of the usual incentives would keep his attention on me. If I used the electric to keep him under control all enthusiasm for his work would disappear, sometimes for a couple of weeks.
He now works safely off lead and with great enthusiasm with other dogs on the field. The other day, a pit bull left control and began running around the field closer and closer to him while he was on the long down. I was 40 feet away from my dog and he just lay there. If he pays any attention to another dog, I don’t have to crank up the stim; just a gentle ping does it. Twice while working with George Cockrell the other day, I recalled him from visiting with other dogs at the fence line; without stim. All this is just a huge accomplishment for this dog and I have full confidence that he’ll get all his titles. Similarly, my female Airedale can now be trusted entirely off lead; whereas before e-collar she would look me in the eye and say "make me" very clearly.

TRAINING – COMPETITION DOG (A note to Carla Collins following the Pine Bluff seminar)
Just wanted to give you an update on Windi, my Dobe. Quit going to shows altogether after the workshop that you and Fred conducted in Pine Bluff. Worked on training her with lots of your suggestions and the collar of course. Have shown her now five times in the past two weekends. I busted her the first time that we showed but the other four trials she has placed each time in huge classes against OTCH trainers so I am pleased at the progress we have made. Her attitude is great. The first week I had the collar it more than paid for itself when four deer ran past us and Windi took off in hot pursuit.

SEMINARS – RETRIEVAL TRAINING
Teaching a retrieve requires faith, vision, commitment and a knowledge of your dog that is deep enough that you make the right choices. You get that knowledge from your foundation and the better it is, the better you will be able to train the retrieve. To have the support of all those people working it through with you is a real blessing. Because a retrieve is a complex task that puts your work on a whole other level, it often comes with some stress and several hurdles. But you all saw that if you stick to it you’ll overcome them. And on the other side, when the job is done you’ll all have dogs that are a hundred times more special to you than they are now. (Hard to imagine? Just wait.
A really reliable retrieve is an act of devotion on both sides.
Love those dogs up. They’re giving you their all and deserve to be honored for it.
Thank you all for your friendship, great work and terrific results. Remember though, you’ve got to keep it up because you know we’re only just beginning!

Editor’s Note: Duke (100 lb. GSD) was less than a day away from the shelter. That was little more than a week ago.
We just wanted to give you an update on Duke since we got the EC last week. He is doing wonderfully well. We have NO problems with him. He comes, he obeys commands, he will still run the fence and play with Spike. But that is okay. The problem was that before he would not come when called. Now he comes every time, even in midrun-mid bark with Spike. It is to the point now where he will hear me opening the door and will already be on the doorstep before I even have a chance to step out and call him and push the magic button. So, he is becoming very responsive. Everyone is a whole lot happier too, including Duke. He is a much better behaved dog in the house and as such can stay with us all the time now rather than having to be confined to a room — he loves the attention and we enjoy our house not being torn apart!
Anyway, thanks so much for helping us with our problem child. He’s a great dog that just needed the right type of training — something we failed miserably in receiving until we found you. Anyway, thanks again and we’ll keep you updated.

SEMINAR – AGGRESSIVE DOG
Attending your three-day training was absolutely the best thing I have ever done for my dog and me. Prior to this, we were living in a virtual prison, afraid to venture out for fear of another "Yury incident" – charging and chasing other animals, knocking people down in the process, scaring people to death! I could write a book of our "close call" encounters with other dogs and their owners. I was fortunate he had never caused injury, but I knew I was courting a lawsuit. Now, we are FREE!!!! I take him around the neighborhood, heeling, with virtually perfect control. He retrieves in the field across from the notorious "kitty house" wherein live multiple cats he has chased in the past — and he barely glances over, his focus intent on retrieving his toy. I can take him to a park, on a trail, to the beach, all off leash!! His attention to me has improved 110 percent. He now actually follows through on commands the first time!! What a miracle!! I feel sorry for all those skeptics who refuse to even consider e-collar training and mistakenly view e-collars as a device used only to punish behavior. So many dogs have been given up or euthanized for unruly behavior, even by owners who have attended many hours of training, as I had. I am only sorry I did not know about this earlier. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!!!

TRAINING – OUT-OF CONTROL DOG
Eva has an imported German-line pedigree and is a dog with a real attitude. Eva had many behavioral problems, two of them so severe that I didn’t know if I was going to be able to keep her. She was "out-of-control.
In a desperate last attempt to salvage Eva, I telephoned my veterinarian for advice. He suggested I call Toni Drugmand, Director of DOG-ON-IT. I spoke with Toni that day and we made an appointment for her to come to my home and evaluate Eva. Almost immediately there was a positive change in Eva’s behavior. Within two weeks these problems were cured. We are now working on more advance obedience training including heeling, sits and downs, come, stays, etc., and "going to your place" (This is really cool!).

Joe, Wanda and I wanted to send you a note to thank you for helping us with our German Shepherd Puppy, Yeager. He was 8 months old and 70 lbs. All of the training techniques that had worked so well with our other Shepherds had failed for even such simple things as walking on the leash. We were asking ourselves if we could keep him when we met you.
We attended your free Wednesday evening demonstration of your training techniques and the "e-collar". We were astounded to experience him walking on the leash without pulling in about 15 minutes. As a result we signed up for your three hours of individual training and purchased the Dogtra e-collar.
In those three hours, Yeager learned your few simple commands, such as Sit (and stay), Down (and stay), Come, and Place. We learned that the collar is not a device for pain, but one of reminder and communication. I would not have believed how quickly he could learn, when we could simply communicate what we wanted him to do.

SEMINARS – POLICE DOG TRAINING
Fred, I just arrived home from the seminar you just did for us. I want to thank you and Robin for all your help. The training you provided a month ago, as well as this week, has been invaluable to Bob, Johnny, and myself. All the K-9 Officers at the seminar were extremely happy with the results they received. I pray your trip home is a good one and I hope to have you out again in March or so to help tune us up for our regional police dog competition. If there is anything I can ever do for you just let me know. Next time you come out I will pick you up at the airport to make things easier on you. Also, I expect you to stay at my home.

We just wanted to take a minuteto express our appreciation for your hospitality this past weekend.Great people, great instructors, and an exceptional educational experience. The weekend was truly an enjoyable experience for both of us. Fred’s seminar was outstanding, if we were not there to witness the benefits of e-collars ourselves, we would never believe it.

SEMINAR – AGGRESSIVE DOG
Duncan and I had tried numerous training methods with no progress. Duncan used to be extremely aggressive, both towards dogs and people. I was in complete awe when I saw what could be achieved with the e-collar. After just a few hours with the e-collar on, Duncan was walking with me in a room full of dogs and strangers. Within one week, he could be let off lead in my front yard. He no longer barks at passing cars or people, and he now approaches my neighbors for affection. Duncan has become an absolute pleasure to be with and I cannot say thank you enough for giving me my dog back!

Whatever you may think about Fred Hassen and his remote collar dog training system… this is a train that isn’t going to stop. If you don’t get on board, you’re going to get run over.

SEMINAR – PROFESSIONAL DOG TRAINER
The training to teach the dogs a command takes minutes compared to hours and days and weeks. I am most impressed with the relaxed attitude in which the dogs react to the training. There is no hint of fright or hurt from the collar use. Rather the dogs were very relaxed and very natural just being happy dogs. Thank you for inviting me to see the live training sessions.

Fred, it was great to meet you in Tucson and watch you work your dogs. It gave me, a person who has used the E-collar for a while, a much needed refresher kick in the butt. Thank you for the help in bringing Anya’s head up, there has been great improvement. She certainly doesn’t like the halti and gave us hours of laughter until she decided to accept it.
The other positive, was the other trainers. George was great to explain things we didn’t understand.Or, put things down to our level for us to understand. It is sometimes hard to get through to us the actual technique of when to tap. It makes a lot of sense once you have it down. My husband was the biggest drawback to Anya’s training. He didn’t like her ZAPPED, as he called it. The little time he spent there was very eye opening to him. He now understands and is behind me totally.
The people who attended the seminar were very varied and knowledgeableand willing to share their specialties. In particular, Maryna Ozuna, who picked up Anya’s hindquarter problem and has helped her tremendously. What a different dog now that she is pain-free. The people who are knowledgeable on feeding your dog. What a great help they were. We have changed Anya’s diet and the change has been the right one for her. All in all, for us, the seminar was a great success on many fronts. It’s nice to know you can teach us old dogs some new tricks.

FIELD DOG TRAINING
Response to a question on the ‘Sit Means Sit’ method being applied to retrieving: It absolutely can be done. I came from a background of "traditional" field training which very clearly says that you CAN NOT teach new behaviors with an ecollar. What I learned initially was very close to Mike Lardy’s techniques; although I believe that the methods that I learned were good, but decidedly not for every dog. True Mike, I think, will work for almost every dog. BUT! What I have learned from Fred, in concert with what I already knew, is so tremendously cool and user friendly for both dog and handler… and given a reasonably competent handler who knows clearly where they are going, will definitely work for every dog…" Read full testimonial.

Had a successful weekend with my two Labs at an obedience trial this weekend. My four-year old, Flyer, finished his 8th and 9th UDX legs with three 196′s and a 192 (points off for handler error). The previous weekend, at the L.A. seminar, I had spent some time working with Fred to get Flyer to work a bit faster and it really showed. His signals and finishes were much crisper. Previously he would sight-see and dawdle while working the scent articles, but this weekend he was all business. We will be going for that last UDX leg over Thanksgiving. Not to be outdone, my one-year old, Sailor, was first in Pre-Novice both days with scores of 196 & 195. He is a nice working little guy, but needs more time to mature. I plan to show him in Rally next year.

You don’t quite know me, however I purchased the Dogtra Model 202NCPcollars from Dawn Wolfe. She did a tremendous job training my Jack Russell and Rat Terrier. We also became friends and I sometimes assist her when possible. I wanted to thank you and send my appreciation foryour video tape several months ago. That video tape changed the way I felt in the past about electronic collars. The outcome of my dogs training has made such an impact on the way I now feel about this method of training. I have never seen such a faster more effective way to train a dog. I never could imagine the results as great as they are. Everyone is less stressed and much happier. My dogs truly enjoy training, it’s unbelievable. I applaud you and your program!!!

Today I can take Delilah anywhere without fear. When I get her collar out she is so excited. She loves her e-collar, and so do I. We can be in class with other dogs and not go crazy. It’s been a great learning experience and we look forward to continued training.
