Chicago, IL (October 5, 2011) � It�s that time of year when Chicagoans �strut� their stuff for charity at the 8th Annual Chicago Canine Rescue Mutt Strut! On Saturday, October 8th, dog lovers and their four-legged friends are invited for a 1.5 mile walk with their �mutt�, followed by a block party with food, entertainment and more! Proceeds from the event will benefit the Chicago Canine Rescue Foundation (CCR).

This event is open to all-ages and is the ultimate canine-friendly, end-of-the-summer stroll through Lakeview! Participants are invited to get some exercise, followed by a family block party (kids and dogs are FREE). After lunch, enjoy music, children�s activities, contests, raffles and visit with adoptable CCR dogs. Plus, check out special deals on both pet and human merchandise at neighborhood shops! Pet personality Steve Dale will be this year�s host and will kick off the walk as �Top Dog.� Special appearances by Melissa Forman of WCIU and Kye Martin of CLTV & WGN.

CCR assists animals that are the MOST vulnerable in Chicago � the dogs and cats that are slated for euthanasia because they are too old, too young, too injured, have disabilities, or have simply been overlooked for too long by potential adopters at other shelters. Chicago Canine Rescue is moving to a new, larger location to be able to help more animals each year. Money raised from this event will help this new space become a nice temporary home for many animals in need.

Our ‘Introduction to Flyball Classes’ are 6 weeks in length. The fun begins when we start the first stages of learning Flyball with YOUR dog! Your dog will be introduced to the game of Flyball, the jumps and the Flyball box. Most dogs, upon completion of this course, will be able to go over 4 jumps, trigger the Flyball box, and return to their handler. Fees for the course are $95 per dog. There will be ‘Introduction’ and ‘Intermediate’ classes together in one.

The ‘Intermediate Class’ is for those interested in actually competing in the sport of Flyball. ‘Intermediate’ level will be fine tuning the box turn and introducing other challenges into the ring, including racing another dog.

The Pooch Plunge will be held on Sunday afternoon, September 5th, 2010. The event takes place at Stronach Pool which is located at 1221 Sanford Street. There are 3 sessions;

1st Session: 1:00 – 1:50pm

2nd Session: 2:10 – 3:00pm

3rd Session: 3:20 – 4:10pm

Each session will require a $5.00 per dog entry fee. If your dog wishes to participate in more than one session you will have to pay the $5.00 entry fee for each session. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the plunge to sign in. A waiver MUST be filled out in full for dogs to participate in the plunge. Proof of vaccinates and a valid dog license is required. All dogs should be dog (and people) friendly.

All participating dogs will receive a Pooch Pack with wonderful pet friendly gifts inside!

Stronach pool has a beach front entry or graduated entry so the dogs can walk in and out of the pool as they please. There are NO people allowed in the pool at any time. This means you cannot swim with your dog. The splash pads within the pool area will be on, so if your dog does not wish to enter the pool there are still water play areas within the gates of the pool. The only parts of the pool area in which the dogs may not play are the slides. Although some of you may think they would have fun on the slides, it is too dangerous. There will be tennis balls donated by John Hatch Tennis Club so the dogs can play catch.

Is your dog not fond of the pool? If your dog does not like water (other than to drink, of course!), but you wish to support our efforts, we would be happy to take any donations with our thanks.
