Last year, my husband, Vince, and I marched our 6 year old golden retrievers, Sunny and Lucky and 1 yr old cattle dog, Bentley in the La Jolla Christmas Parade with the San Diego Golden Retriever Meet-up Group. Lucky was a hit in the parade, but it was his siblings that caused us trouble. It was fun seeing over 50 goldens in one place, but as much fun as it was.. Sunny was very wild and pulled on her leash, even with her Halti on. I hated the way her Halti looked in the photos and it was very cumbersome to keep taking her halti on and off. Bentley was agressive and tried to nip at all the dogs. We ended up putting him on the sidelines because we could not handle the 3 dogs together.
This year, I wanted the parade to be more enjoyable for all of us. Thanks to just a few sessions with you… we were able to walk Sunny OFF-LEASH for the ENTIRE parade! She was the ONLY dog…out of about 60 that was off-leash. The parade was about 1/2 mile long and she pranced among the group of dogs, but was always in control. I think she had more fun than I did! I was so very proud of her and wished you could have seen us in action. (I guess you’ll have to wait for Vince to finish the youtube video) I even had a very impressed parade-goer ask if I was a dog trainer!! As for Bentley, he walked among the goldens in the parade, and did not once try to nip at any of the dogs.
We are extremely happy with the training we have received from you and look forward to more sessions. We even have planned to participate in more Christmas parades because we know our dogs will be well-behaved! Thank you!!
