Everyone knows that the “dog days of summer” occur during the hottest and muggiest part of the season. Webster describes “dog days”
1 : the period between early July and early September when the hot sultry weather of summer usually occurs in the northern hemisphere
2 : a period of stagnation or inactivity

We look at Cardiff’s Dog Days of Summer as a day filled with a feel-good “holiday spirit,” drawing families (children & dogs) which is now an annual outing where the community will get pleasure from Dog Contests & the Canine Festival.

It is a day out on the square and fun for everyone with the contest and Canine festival. With entertainment for pets & people who love them: Contest, enjoying entertainment, browsing the vendor booths & of course it is as much about seeing other dogs as it is about the festivities. You will meet other dog lovers and reunite with friends.

Although Dog Days provide entertainment for people of all ages, the festival is truly all about dogs. So with a wag of the tail and a big sloppy lick, let’s take a closer sniff at how you can participate.
