Iron Dog World Champion Interview – Tony Lampert

Tony Lampert and Baxter Iron Dog World Champion

How did Baxter perform in the qualifying rounds in the Stihl DockDogs World Championships this year?

Baxter did Awesome in the Iron Dog qualifying round. He qualified straight to the finals on Sunday his first day. In Extreme Vertical Baxter made the Finals on the last qualifying round on Sunday.

How did Baxter do overall in the World Championships this year? Any new personal bests?

Baxter came in as an underdog to the competition and did amazing. Taking 1st Place in Iron Dog and 2nd Place in Extreme Vertical.

What are some of your favorite things about the World Championships this year?

Just making it to the World Championships was great since this is Baxter’s first year competing in Dock Dogs. My favorite moment at the Championships was the Extreme Vertical sudden death jump off with Lianne and Rex. Baxter came up short on that event, but it was an incredible experience.

What did you think about the Outdoor Channel filming at the World Championships and them having the big Jumbotron there? Did you see Baxter on the Jumbotron?

I thought the Jumbotron made the Championships larger than life. Very Cool.  What did you think about the crowd at the World Championships? What kind of vibe did you feel from the crowd? During the finals the energy from the crowd was ELECTRIC. Not only did we the handlers feel it, but the dogs were feeding off the crowd. You could just see it in there eyes. They knew it was the championships and the dogs gave everything they had.
