POLICE K9 TRAINING CAN INVOLVE SPLIT SECOND DECISIONS

www.sitmeanssit.com Fred Hassen and Darrel Hager from Sit Means Sit dog training are seen here doing a demonstration for Police K9 handlers from all over the world at the 2011 HITS Police K9 conference on their demonstration day. This is the largest gathering of K9 handlers of any event in the world. This video just shows an unplanned scenario where the handler has to react instantly in an exercise that limits liability when you can start and stop your dog from anywhere. This is real world training where situations can change in an instant so having the ability to control your dog from anywhere gives the k9 handlers a tactical advantage. The handler is not leaving his position during this exercise. This type of control was established using the “Sit Means Sit” remote training system. This exercise was also done with a 2nd loose k9 on the field as well that you can see on the field at the end of the video. Practicing bitework scenarios with multiple dogs on the field allows for handlers to get more control work in without expending more time making everyone’s training much more resourceful. You must have off-leash control of your dog in order to do these exercises and the ability to start and stop your dog from anywhere at any time.
