www.sitmeanssit.com Taking young ‘Crash’ through the steps of jumping off a dock for the first time. He is 13 weeks old in this video and still a young puppy. He has jumped into our swimming pool a number of times, but the elevation of a dock is a bit more of a challenge. We had tried just tossing the ball into the pool a few times with me up on the dock with him, but I am used to seeing dogs and puppies have a little problem with the elevation of the dock at first and not just jump in and get the ball. I get them through the elevation at first when I know they like the water and that is the only problem. It’s normal even for an adult dog to do the same thing. It’s fun to watch them cross that bridge quickly and become very confident. Make sure the line is a little loose behind him, just enough so he can’t back away and the energy just comes forward. I like them learning on their own and find this is the best way for me to achieve that. With self discovery comes confidence. “Crash” is a Belgian Malinois.
