Here is an interesting Associated Press story concerning breed bans. Breed bans are very similar to racism. The video above shows a Pit bull that I used to have picking up all the trash in a park.
Dutch government to lift 25-year ban on pit bulls
The Dutch government says it will lift a long-standing ban on pit bulls because it did not lead to any decrease in bite incidents.
Agriculture Minister Gerda Verburg has informed parliament of the decision, which follows the advice of a commission of experts appointed to review the policy.
Instead, the country will focus on enforcing local leashing laws and owner education programs.
Spokesman Koen Geelink said Monday the ministry hopes to have a new policy in place by year-end, in which dogs that have displayed aggression will be tested by an expert.
The country banned the breeding and possession of pit bulls in 1993, after three children were killed by the dogs.

Too bad the AP can’t count… If the ban’s been in place since 1993, that means it’s a 15-year ban, not a 25-year ban. Good news anyway.

I still have not seen any acual information saying it has been lifted. Just alot of people saying it is going to be that is not the same thing but I hpoe it will be lifted

These bans really bother me, but proper tracking of incidents and the relative ratio of Pit Bulls owns, vs attacks should show that it’s only a small problem, not directly tied to the breed itself, but to bad owners in general. There should be laws, but not restriction on the breed because, like a lot of us out there, my sweet pit bull is the nicest dog – better than my two chihuahuas and NOT NEARLY as mean. They’re all great though : )

at last a possitive story about the lovely pittbul, great !!!!!
I hope that some people learn about this and see what a dog can do and can mean for the humans !!!this video or information must be spread all over this bad world !!!
