Our Dog Swimming safety program

Press release

Sit Means Sit Announces New and Improved Dog Swimming Program
Just in time for the summer months, Sit Means Sit dog training introduces their new and improved Canine Swimming Program! Sit Means Sit, a Las Vegas based dog training company with locations nationwide uses traditional dog obedience methods with remote electronic collars. These collars give a gentle but persistent “touch” to the dog to keep the dog focused on the task or command at hand.
“We have recently revamped our Dog Swimming Program to meet the needs of our clients who want to improve the overall health and fitness of their dog as well as ensuring their safety and well being,” said Fred Hassen, CEO of Sit Means Sit Dog Training.
Hassen continued, “After basic dog obedience is achieved, the sky is the limit on the activities you can participate in with your dog. We have a number of clients all over the US who own swimming pools or enjoy local beaches, ponds and lakes and they are anxious to learn how to help their dog swim and also behave properly and safely. In public areas, obedience is especially important, so we try to bring improve the fun and healthy benefits of swimming with dog obedience and proper training.”
Swimming is one of the most effective methods of fitness and energy release for dogs of all ages. Traditionally, dog owners use daily walks or runs to exercise their dogs but during the summer months, swimming can actually be a more beneficial method of exercise. Not only does the dog enjoy the cooling sensation of the water, but they experience non weight bearing cardiovascular exercise which can strengthen muscles, joints and offer respite from any age related skeletal conditions.
Swimming is especially beneficial to older dogs that may be slowing down because of joint pain. Swimming allows for excellent exercise without putting any stress on arthritic joints or hips aching from dysplasia or other conditions. By engaging in swimming, your dog will build strength, lengthen muscles and tendons and increase metabolism to keep a healthy weight. Keeping your older dog fit can not only improve the quality of their life, it can also add years.
Dogs also love to swim! Swimming with your dog in local ponds or lakes and allowing them to swim in the pool is great fun – especially when safe conditions are met! In many cases, people assume their dogs can happily leap into the pool and exit without direction, but that is not always the case.
“We have found that although most dogs show a natural aptitude for swimming, owners still need to understand how to help their dogs get the most from their aquatic workout and there is the added issue of safety which is frequently overlooked,” said Hassen.
Most people focus on the safety of their children around a swimming pool, but they also need to think about their dogs. Without proper training on safe entry and exit from the pool, the dog may actually be in serious danger. Some families invest in special pet ramps, pet steps, alarms and even life vests for their animals but at Sit Means Sit espouses that proper training will truly ensure the safety of your dog.
“By ensuring that your dog will listen and respond to every command, you will be able to take them anywhere and also trust them next to your swimming pool. We help clients understand how to train dogs of any age on entry and exit from the swimming pool, and on how to control their dog in any environment which means they can safely and happily enjoy any public swimming area. By training your dog properly, and also knowing that they will be safe, you’ll have more fun and so will your dog!”

I would like to teach my puppy how to swim. Do you know any local pool in Los angeles where they allow dogs. Or any trainners in the area that would allow me to go in the pool with my puppy.

    Thank you in advance,
    Cindy
