Our Seminar from Mexico
Alfredo Rivera and myself recently got back from a seminar that we did in Guadalajara Mexico for 4 days. What an unbelievable adventure that was. I had never been to Guadalajara, and wasn’t quite sure what to expect. Enrique Velasco from Cikan hosted the seminar. It was simply incredible from beginning to end! First of all, they had an incredible facility that they were hosting the event at, that was like a very nice hotel resort. There were 90 people from the police world that ranged from K-9 handlers, to border patrol personnel, to National Champion Ringsport handlers. All of the top trainers from Mexico were there. There were also others from the U.S. in attendance besides Alfredo and myself.
Alfredo Rivera speaks fluent spanish as well as english, so it was a lot of fun as he was interpreting a lot of things for us. The people were just so gracious about everything, and they took us all downtown for horse and buggy rides through the city, and Enrique and his wife also took us to a fabulous Mexican restaurant called “La Charla” that they personally own. It was a very upscale restaurant and everything they had going was totally first class.
They had professional videographers there, and professional photographers as well, so I’m sure we will have much for the website very soon. We had very nice rooms with bowls of fruit out there for us every morning, and 3 great meals a day. The training was awesome, as our new Sit Means Sit dog training collars got a heck of a workout with all the police dogs there, and we ran out of all the collars that we brought about an hour into the seminar, as everyone was seeing the changes immediately. They were very grateful of all of the things that all the instructors were teaching them, including us and it was truly an honor to be there.
We are presently making plans to hold one of our Sit Means Sit schools out there for the first time, because of the language barrier, we decided that with all of the people that were interested in becoming a “Sit Means Sit”, that it would be best to hold it there. Enrique is organizing all of this as they are also becoming a “Sit Means Sit” along with others that are part of his vast network of trainers. We will soon have quite a few locations in Guadalajara as well, and it is very exciting to be able to work with a man like Enrique Velasco, and a man of his character. He will fit in great with our team, and we look forward to starting this long relationship!!
