Fred Hassen with “Sara” demonstrating hunting dog training. Teaching dogs to be able to start and stop efficiently, and from a distance can come in handy in any sort of training. Police dogs, protection dogs, agility dogs, and any and all sorts of breeds need to be able to start and stop without losing desire. Hunting dogs, and hunting dog trials are probably the most prevalent sport where dogs are all trained with remote dog training collars because of the distances involved. These dogs still perform well without their collars on during trial day. All training devices are ‘aids’ in training whether it be a cookie, choke chain, prong collar, or training with a ball or a toy. When these aids are taken away, the most consistent training will carry over. There are other references HERE, HERE, and HERE of dogs performing without their collar on with explanations and visual picture. Click
